Mitchell Basketball

The Kernel basketball teams took on the Brandon Valley Lynx for Senior Night in Mitchell, SD last night. It was a slow start for the (RV) Kernel girls scoring just six points in the opening quarter. They were able to hang with the top team in Class AA for about 2 ½ quarters until they began to stretch the lead and we couldn’t buy a basket. The Kernels shot just 10-for-46 from the field (22%) and 2-for-15 from three (13.3%). Mitchell girls fall to BV, 54-34 and are now 12-7 overall. For the boys, they didn’t have the best start either and it was another night where we couldn’t buy a basket. Through three quarters, regardless of the shooting struggles, we only trailed by six points. We got outscored 14-4 in the fourth quarter and that was the nail in the coffin as the Mitchell boys lost, 55-39. The Kernel boys drop to 8-10 overall.
