BNSF Train Carrying Grain Derails Near Kaylor, South Dakota — No Injuries Reported

KAYLOR, S.D. (MITCHELLNOW) A Burlington Northern Santa Fe train hauling grain derailed early Tuesday morning near Kaylor in Hutchinson County. According to the Mitchell Republic, emergency officials say the call came in around 7 a.m., though BNSF reports the derailment happened closer to 5:15 a.m. No injuries were reported, and authorities say there’s no danger to the public. The derailment happened near 417th Avenue between 289th and 290th Streets, about a mile northwest of Kaylor. Cleanup crews were on scene, and the cause remains under investigation.
