SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (MITCHELLNOW) South Dakota Corrections Secretary Kellie Wasko is resigning, effective October 20th. Concerns about her leadership were seen as a major roadblock for plans to build a new men’s penitentiary in Sioux Falls. Now, Governor Rhoden says her department may clear the way for the prison’s approval. Representative Tim Reisch of Howard, who’s also a former Corrections Secretary , says the new prison plan is good. Governor Rhoden says Secretary Wasko made the decision to resign on her own.
