The Davison County Planning Commission voted unanimously on Tuesday night to approve a conditional use permit for a soybean processing facility south of Mitchell. The $450 million South Dakota Soybean Processors’ facility would be located at the intersection of 257th Street and Highway 37, about two miles south of Mitchell. Nearly 100 people attended the two-hour meeting, which was held at the Davison County Fairgrounds. Residents expressed concerns about traffic in the area. A traffic study is being conducted by the South Dakota Soybean Processors. The facility would add around 75 jobs to the area. The final decision now lies with the Davison County Commission, which will meet Tuesday morning at 9 AM at the Davison County Fairgrounds. If approved, construction would begin next summer.
