MITCHELL, S.D. (MITCHELLNOW) Davison County leaders have wrapped up work on the 2026 budget. Commissioners approved more than $8.8 million in property tax revenue and set aside $100,000 to start planning for a possible new jail and public safety building. The board also gave the green light to Mitchell’s plan for a new roundabout at 23rd and Ohlman. That project comes at no cost to the county. On the tech side, Davison County is getting a $14,000 Secure SD grant to upgrade its network equipment before the end of the year. Sheriff Harr also secured two highway safety grants, one targeting speed and seatbelt enforcement, the other focused on impaired driving. And commissioners approved moving $20,000 from contingency funds to help cover juvenile detention costs. The board won’t meet this week, with the next session set for early October.
