Davison County hopes to become more efficient in its bill collections. At last week’s Davison County Commission meeting, Davison County Auditor Sue Kiepke proposed a change in the collection agency the county uses.
“FJM, in my opinion, has really dropped the ball in the last few years,” Kiepke told the commission. “I don’t feel like they are getting us what they really could. I really think that Advanced Asset Alliance is a better avenue for us.”
Kiepke says the county has about $900,000 in bills that are ready to send. She says the county tries to work with those that owe money for various reasons.
“We lien court-appointed attorney fees, jail confinement costs, psych evals in certain cases, and so we give people ample opportunity to make payment agreements.”
Kiepke says FJM would keep the old liens and take 25 percent of what they can collect. The county would then start fresh with Advanced Asset Alliance with new collections. The commission voted in favor of the change.
