MITCHELL, SD (Mitchell Now) — A rising South Dakota music star is giving a free concert in Mitchell Thursday evening.

Weston Frank has built a thriving following in the country music scene, doing upwards of 120 shows a year. Two of his band mates are maintenance men at Edgewood Assisted Living Center and Memory Care in Mitchell. For one night only, those worlds collide, creating a perfect summer evening of entertainment.

The concert begins at six. Edgewood will have bleachers set up in the cul-de-sac next to its building at 501 East Spruce Street. Anyone coming to the show is welcome to bring their own lawn chairs if they wish. Before Frank hits his first note, Edgewood will be providing food and drinks, also free.

The only thing staff is asking in return is for people to come early to tour the building and learn about the services Edgewood provides. Their memory care unit is the only one in the Mitchell area, and is seeing increased demand as the population ages. The National Institute of Health is predicting that dementia and Alzheimer’s cases will double nationwide by 2060.
