MITCHELL, S.D. (MITCHELLNOW) Emily’s Hope is rolling out a full K–8 substance use prevention program for schools nationwide. The South Dakota nonprofit has added middle school lessons on peer pressure, brain development, social media safety, and even naloxone use. Founder Angela Kennecke, who lost her daughter Emily to fentanyl poisoning, says the goal is to stop substance use before it starts. Studies show the program boosts kids’ health knowledge and decision-making skills by more than 50 percent. Educators say it’s easy to use and makes a real difference. Schools can sign up now for the 2025–26 year at Emilys Hope edu dot org. For more Government stories from MitchellNow.com, Click Here.
