Fatal Train and Pickup Crash Near Woonsocket Leaves One Dead, One Injured

WOONSOCKET, S.D. (MITCHELLNOW) One man is dead and another injured after a train collided with a pickup Saturday afternoon southwest of Woonsocket. According to the Daily Republic, reports of the crash came in around 4:39 p.m. near 399 Avenue and 237 Street when a 2012 Ford F-350 became stuck on the tracks. The 30-year-old driver from Rosharon, Texas, died at the scene, while his 29-year-old passenger was treated at a Mitchell hospital for minor injuries. The BNSF train’s engineer was not hurt.
