Governor Says New Prison Plan Will Save Taxpayers Millions

PIERRE, S.D. (MITCHELLNOW) Governor Rhoden says South Dakota’s new prison project in Sioux Falls will save taxpayers more than 154 million dollars. His office reports that the facility can be funded entirely with cash reserves set aside by current and past legislators. The revised plan comes in 175 million dollars cheaper than the earlier Lincoln County proposal, with savings tied to a new site and lower soft costs.
