Legislation Introduced for New State Prison

PIERRE, S.D. (MITCHELLNOW) Lawmakers are taking another step toward building a new state prison. Governor Larry Rhoden unveiled draft legislation on Thursday that will be brought before lawmakers in the upcoming special session. Rhoden says the bill is aimed at replacing the 140-year-old State Penitentiary, calling it a long-overdue project. He says he looks forward to working with legislators to move the plan forward.
