MITCHELL, SD (Mitchell Now) — The Mitchell Public Library parking lot will be filled to the brim on Wednesday morning with heavy equipment, ready for their close-up.

Touch-A-Truck is a free event that ties into the summer reading program theme of “Unearth a Story.” The vehicles will be available to see up close between 10:00 a.m. and noon. Children of all ages are encouraged to attend as long as they are chaperoned by a parent or caregiver.

Some of the other big events that tie into summer reading still on the schedule after Touch-A-Truck include a free visit to the Mitchell Indigenous Archeological Site on Wednesday, July 1, Outdoor Storytime at Hitchcock Park on Thursday, July 2, and a presentation on dinosaurs and fossils from Dr. Farney and Dr. Lubben of Dakota Wesleyan University inside their pop-up planetarium on Wednesday, July 8.

The library will also have events tying into the rodeo in mid-July.
