MITCHELL, SD (Mitchell Now) — The first phase of chip sealing will begin in Mitchell on Monday, with residents on affected streets being asked to have their vehicles off the road by 7:00 a.m.

The street department intends to cover the 900 through 1500 blocks of Quince Avenue, 1300 and 1400 blocks of West Norway, 700 block of Mitchell Boulevard, the 1300 and 1400 blocks of Williams Avenue, the 100 block of West Douglas Avenue, and the 300 block of Fir Avenue to start.

If the weather is bad, which isn’t expected outside of possibly extreme heat, the project will be pushed back one day. Homeowners should avoid parking on the street until the work is complete. Officials also require all automatic sprinkler systems be turned off and sump pump hoses need to be pulled back from the gutter.
