Mitchell Hires Contractor for Corn Palace Mural Installation

MITCHELL, S.D. (MITCHELLNOW) Mitchell City Council has approved a $75,420 contract with Pro Contracting to install nine new Corn Palace murals this fall. Work is set to begin after Oct. 1 and wrap up by Nov. 15, funded through the city’s Corn Palace fund. Officials say hiring a contractor ensures the murals will be up in time for the 2026 semi quincentennial celebration, themed “250 Years of America.” Corn Palace officials say finishing before winter gives the murals maximum visibility. This marks the first time outside contractors will handle the mural installation, traditionally done by seasonal staff. For more Government stories from MitchellNow.com, Click Here.
