Mitchell Softball

The Kernel softball team finally got to finish their game against Brookings yesterday afternoon after being delayed in the third inning on Tuesday night. Mitchell trailed 7-0 heading into the day and managed four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to cut the lead down, but were unable to cap off a comeback and ended up losing, 8-4. Rylee Jennings was on the mount for the Kernels and threw 11 strikeouts. Offensively, Mitchell got its four hits from Emma Hegg, Mallory Miedema, Brooklyn Schlimgen and Livaya Mimmack. Mitchell is now 3-13 overall.

Mitchell Tennis

The Kernel boys tennis team will begin their Varsity State Tournament this morning. They’ll be in Rapid City, SD at Sioux Park for all their matchups. It all gets started at 8am.

Mitchell Golf

The Kernel girls golf team gets set for competition today. They’ll be in to Brookings, SD to play at the Brookings Country Club. The tee time is set for 10am.

Mitchell Track & Field

The Kernel track & field teams are competing in the Mark Wendelgass Relays this afternoon. They’re over in Huron at Huron Tiger Stadium and get rolling at 2pm.

DWU Golf

Allison Meyerink continues play at the NAIA Women’s Golf National Championships in Ypsilanti, MI today. Meyerink is T-70th so far with an eight over par score as they head into today’s action for Round 2. She will continue play through tomorrow at Eagle Crest Golf Club. Her tee time today will be at 8:30am.

WNBA

The Minnesota Lynx will be in action tonight. Minnesota sits at 2-2 overall and are looking for their first home win of the season. They’ll host the Toronto Tempo at the Target Center in Minneapolis, MN on WNBA League Pass at 7pm.

MLB

The Minnesota Twins closed out their series with the Houston Astros yesterday afternoon. It was Minnesota who got the series win after a 4-1 victory to get themselves back to over .500 on their home field. The Twins were put on the back of Joe Ryan who threw 12 total strikeouts in the game. They are now 23-27 overall. Next, they’ll play tomorrow on the road against the Boston Red Sox at 6:10pm and the game will air on MLBTV/ESPN Unlimited.

NBA

The Western Conference Finals continued with Game 2 last night and now it’s tied 1-1 in the series as it heads to Texas for Game 3. It was the No. 1 seed Oklahoma City Thunder who got past the No. 2 seed San Antonio Spurs with a 122-113 win. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led all scorers with 30 points. Conference Finals game action continues again tonight with Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Finals. It’s the No. 4 seed Cleveland Cavaliers at the No. 3 seed New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden in New York, NY. Tipoff is set for 7pm on ESPN.
