MLB

The biggest news out of the American League Central didn’t involve the games this weekend. The Detroit Tigers have traded the two-time defending Cy Young winner, Tarik Skubal, to the Dodgers for three prospects.

The Twins won Friday night in Seattle but lost heartbreakers on Saturday and Sunday. Minnesota got down in all three games, were able to overcome it on Friday and stunned the Mariners, but fell short in taking the series.

On Saturday, the Twins used home runs from Luke Keaschall and Trevor Larnach to score single runs in the fifth and sixth innings, plus another lone run in the 7th to tie the game at 3-3. Seattle walked it off in the bottom of the ninth, though. Sunday was even more extraordinary. Down 6-0, Minnesota pushed across five in the eighth and another in the top of the ninth to even the game. Yet again, Seattle found a way to win it in the bottom of the ninth.

The Twins are 56-57 and a half game out of a playoff spot.

WNBA

Two of the hottest teams in the WNBA met at Target Center Sunday afternoon, with the hometown Lynx getting the victory. Minnesota took down the Indiana Fever, 108-100, thanks to an exceptional game from rookie point guard Olivia Miles. She rattled in 28 points while shooting 78.6% from the field. Courtney Williams had 27 and Napheesa Collier chipped in 18 for the Lynx.

On the other side, Kelsey Mitchell (nice last name) led all scorers with 37. Caitlin Clark poured in 19 points.
