MITCHELL, S.D. (MITCHELLNOW) Mitchell Technical College is moving ahead with plans to renovate its campus amphitheater after getting approval from the Mitchell Board of Education Tuesday night. According to the Mitchell Republic, the board unanimously awarded the $1.245 million project to Great Place Construction of Sioux Falls. The amphitheater, part of the Muth Technology Center since 2003, will get new seating, tables, and upgraded audio and video systems, along with improvements to nearby hallways and restrooms. College officials say bids came in well below the estimated $1.8 million cost. Construction is expected to start within two weeks and wrap up by May, in time for student registration in June.
