Mitchell’s Deanell Backlund Among Nominees for Spirit of Dakota Award

MITCHELL, S.D. (MITCHELLNOW) A Mitchell woman is being recognized among the state’s most admired leaders. Deanell Backlund has been named one of 14 nominees for this year’s Spirit of Dakota Award, South Dakota’s premier honor for women who demonstrate leadership, success, and community impact. The 39th annual award will be presented on October 4th at the Huron Event Center. The honoree will receive a plaque created by a renowned South Dakota sculptor. According to a press release the evening includes an art show from 4 to 7 p.m., a social at 5:30, followed by the banquet and award presentation.
