Palace City Baseball Home Openers Celebrating Return of Legion Baseball in Mitchell

Palace City Baseball Association (PCBA) is excited to announce the Post 18 Senior Legion Home Opener on Tuesday, June 16 at 7:00 PM at Cadwell Field, marking the return of Legion Baseball to Mitchell for the first time in nearly three years.


The day will feature a full lineup of baseball beginning at Noon, with both the 13U and 14U teams taking the field, followed by Junior Legion at 5:00 PM. The evening will conclude with the highly anticipated Post 18 Senior Legion Home Opener at 7:00 PM.


PCBA has planned a special evening for both players and the community to celebrate the return of Legion Baseball to Mitchell. Activities will include the Legion Color Guard, the National Anthem performed on trumpet by Post 18 Legion baseball player Quinten Wilson, concessions, and additional activities throughout the night to create a memorable experience for fans and families.


“This is an exciting moment not only for our players, but for the Mitchell community and the tradition of Legion Baseball,” said Jeff McCormick, Palace City Baseball President. “We’re proud to help bring Post 18 Legion Baseball back to Mitchell and create an atmosphere that celebrates the game, our players, and our community.”

June 16 Schedule:

  • 13U: Double Header Vs. Brookings, Noon & 2 PM, Drake Field
  • 14U: Double Header Vs. Renner, Noon & 2 PM, Cadwell Field
  • Jr. Legion, Post 18 Vs. Harrisburg, 5 & 7 PM, Drake Field
  • Sr. Legion, Post 18 Vs. Helena, MT. 7 PM, Cadwell Field

The Palace City Baseball Association serves as the official organization for summer baseball in the Mitchell area, representing South Dakota Class A 13U–16U baseball and South Dakota American Legion Post 18 Junior and Senior Legion teams. Community members are encouraged to attend throughout the day and help celebrate the return of Legion Baseball to Mitchell.
