MITCHELL, SD (Mitchell Now) — The South Dakota State Fair will host the 66th Annual Family Campers and RVers (FCRV) Campvention from July 5–11, 2026, bringing hundreds of campers and families from across the United States and Canada to the fairgrounds in Huron.

Fair officials said the national event will feature a full schedule of outdoor recreation, family-focused games and crafts, evening entertainment, local tours, conservation education, and hands-on workshops designed for all ages. The Heartland Region will welcome attendees from coast to coast.

“We’re excited to bring Campvention to Huron,” said Jan Selby, an FCRV representative. “The Fairgrounds offer incredible amenities, and the staff has been nothing but supportive. This location gives us the perfect opportunity to blend our mission with the hospitality, culture, and natural beauty that Huron and the surrounding area are known for.”

South Dakota State Fair Manager Peggy Besch said the Fair is honored to host FCRV in Huron for the first time. “Our facilities are well-suited for an event of this size, and we look forward to showcasing what the Fairgrounds and our community have to offer,” she said. “It is a wonderful opportunity to welcome guests from across North America to experience South Dakota.”

Founded in 1949, FCRV is a volunteer-run, nonprofit international camping club offering programs ranging from conservation efforts and youth activities to disaster awareness training and scholarships. More information is available at fcrv.org.
