Sports Roundup: Thursday 11/20/25

Mitchell Volleyball

The No. 8 seed Kernel volleyball team (16-8) will begin State Tournament competition this afternoon in their pursuit of a State Championship! They will take on No. 1 seed Harrisburg (32-2) at 11am MT/Noon CT at the Monument Summit Arena in Rapid City, SD.

DWU Wrestling

The (RV) Tiger men’s wrestling team took on the (RV) Northwestern (IA) yesterday here in Mitchell and it was a dominant performance. They won by a team score of 31-11. Wins include: Kipp Cordes over Ethan Skoglund 8-6 in the 135lb class, Tyson Johnson over Cade Braun 11-8 in the 157lb class, Lane Miller over Wyatt Bice TF 19-3 in 4:43 in the 165lb class, Teagan Foreman won by forfeit, Jagger Tyler over Carter Peterson TF 15-0 in 2:01 in the184lb class, Jaxson Quail over Joel Arias (fall 2:28) and Cole Hennings over Logan Ash 7-2 in the heavyweight class.

DWU Basketball

The Tiger basketball teams saw action yesterday against the Morningside Mustangs. The No. 16 women’s basketball team had a dominant win over the Mustangs and came away with a 94-53 victory. Shalayne Nagel led the Tigers with 17 points and 10 rebounds for a double-double. WBB improves to 3-2 overall. The Tiger men weren’t as fortunate in their game and they lost to Morningside in a close one, 81-75. Randy Rosenquist led DWU with 13 points and 10 rebounds for a double-double as well. MBB falls to 4-3 overall.

DWU Football

The Tiger football team recently saw seven players be honored by the Great Plains Athletic Conference as they have released the All-Conference awards. Those include Landon Ruesink (punt returner), Carter Skogsberg (defensive lineman), Grayson Hanson (linebacker) and Trevor Sladky (defensive back) who each received Honorable Mention honors. On the second team were Gavin Pischke (offensive lineman) & Cody Winslow (defensive lineman). Rounding it out on first team was Ruesink (defensive back) and Cole Holden (wide receiver).

SDSU Basketball

The (RV) Jackrabbit women’s basketball team (4-0) will be back for a game tonight. They’ll be on neutral ground when they face Gonzaga (2-2) at The Pentagon in Sioux Falls, SD. The game will air on Midco Sports and tipoff is at 7pm. The men’s basketball team (3-2) will play at home at the First Bank & Trust Arena in Brookings, SD tomorrow night when they host Georgia State. The game will tipoff at 7pm and air on the Summit League Network.

NFL

Thursday Night Football gets week 12 going in the NFL tonight. You’ll have the Buffalo Bills (7-3) on the road at the Houston Texans (5-5) on Prime Video. The game will kickoff at NRG Stadium at 7:15pm.

NBA

The Minnesota Timberwolves played the Washington Wizards last night at home. They are now winners of six of their last seven games after their win over Washington, 120-109. Julius Randle led the charge for Minnesota with 32 points and 10 rebounds for a double-double, also adding six assists. Minnesota will play again tomorrow on the road when they matchup with the Phoenix Suns for NBA Cup – Group Play at 8pm.
