Mitchell Volleyball

The No. 5 Kernel volleyball team is at home tonight for a rivalry matchup. They’ll be playing in the MHS gyms against the Huron Tigers. Freshmen and JV play at 4:30pm, sophomores at 5:30pm and varsity at 6:30pm.

DWU Basketball

The Tiger basketball teams are set to begin their season tonight. The No. 9 ranked women’s basketball team will travel to Des Moines, Iowa to take on Drake University. They will play in the Knapp Center at 6pm. For the men, they will open their season at home in the World’s Only Corn Palace. They’ll host Grand View in Mitchell at 6pm under first year Head Coach, Sam Nicholson.

DWU Volleyball

The (RV) Tiger volleyball team faced the No. 24 Dakota State Trojans last night for Senior Night. They overcame a storming comeback from the Trojans who were down 2-0 and ended up forcing a fifth set. The Tigers ended up taking the match, 3-2. They now sit at 15-10 overall. DWU will play again tomorrow when they travel to face the Dordt Defenders in Sioux City, Iowa at 7:30pm in De Witt Gymnasium.

DWU Soccer

The Tiger soccer teams get back to the field tomorrow night. They’ll be here in Mitchell at the Pepsi-Cola Soccer Complex taking on the Morningside Mustangs. Men play first at 5pm and the women play at 7:30pm.

NFL

It was Monday Night Football last night between the Washington Commanders and the Kansas City Chiefs. The magic of Patrick Mahomes was on full display after some early mistakes and the Chiefs dominated the Commanders and won, 28-7. Mahomes was 25-for-34 passing for 299 yards and three touchdowns with two interceptions.

MLB

The World Series Game 3 went on for quite a while last night because it took 18 innings to decide a winner. It was between the No. 3 seed Los Angeles Dodgers and the No. 1 seed Toronto Blue Jays, and this game was not even a high scoring affair. Though, regardless, it was the Dodgers who got the win in the end after 18 innings of play, and they now lead the series 2-1 after a 6-5 victory. Game 4 goes down tonight at 7pm on FOX.

NBA

The Minnesota Timberwolves took on the Denver Nuggets last night without Anthony Edwards who will miss a couple of weeks with a right hamstring strain. They were unable to get past the Nuggets and fell, 127-114. Jaden McDaniels led the scoring for Minnesota with 25 points. Next, they’ll host the Los Angeles Lakers tomorrow night at 8:30pm on ESPN.
