Summit Carbon Solutions Considers Moving Pipeline Outside Dakotas After South Dakota Eminent Domain Ban

MITCHELL, S.D. (MITCHELLNOW) Summit Carbon Solutions could soon move its carbon dioxide pipeline outside of the Dakotas.  The company filed an amendment last month to its final order with the Iowa Utilities Commission after South Dakota passed a bill this year banning eminent domain for carbon pipelines.  Summit Carbon says this creates a major roadblock for the company and has now requested that the Iowa Utilities Commission approve its recent amendment proposal.  If approved, this would allow SCS to build its pipeline without approval from North Dakota and South Dakota, which would likely result in the company finding a new route outside the Dakotas.
