MITCHELL, SD (WEATHER UPDATE) – A colder midweek arrives in Mitchell on Wednesday, followed by a warmer but windy Thursday. Light snow is possible late Thursday night into Friday, and temperatures trend colder again for the weekend.

According to the National Weather Service, confidence is moderate in light snow Thursday night into Friday, and strong northwest winds could create added travel concerns if snow is falling or blowing. Colder air is expected to settle in for the weekend, with highs mainly in the teens and 20s.

  • Friday (Jan. 16): A 50% chance of snow. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 32. Windy.

  • Friday night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 9. Blustery.
